Executive Summary

Seekhaven has been a pillar of safety and connection in southeastern Utah for over three decades. Headquartered in Moab and serving rural and frontier communities throughout southeast Utah and northern Navajo Nation, we provide direct support and advocacy services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and those at an increased risk of victimization. Services include personalized case management, housing assistance, legal and medical advocacy, educational and vocational support, referrals to free counseling services, support groups, and financial assistance. Every interaction with Seekhaven is client-led, and assistance is designed to foster long-term safety, personal autonomy, and stability. Each year we support approximately 350 individuals. To ensure that services are accessible and match community needs, we amplify the voices of survivors and those of marginalized identities. 100% of our leadership team are survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault, and 20% of our team received Seekhaven services in a prior life. As further evidence of our life-changing impact, we regularly witness the generational change in families' relationships to violence and the positive impact personal autonomy has on future generations. Hundreds of today's children are at a lower risk of victimization and reside in safer families and communities because of our community-based preventive approach to victim services. Maximizing continued success and relevancy, we are respected partners and/or facilitators on 7 local boards, 3 state-wide committees, and 1 national task force. An award will facilitate a vital facilities expansion, permitting us to maximize housing services and open a trauma-informed childcare center.
