Executive Summary

RMM was specifically founded to address systemic barriers faced by migrant families who returned to the Hudson Valley annually - food, housing, clothing and a place for their children to go while they labored in the fields.

Our Staff (73%) and Board (50%) are BIPOC w/Program & Regional Coordinators at 100%, 50% and 25% bilingual and 57% women - representing under-privileged, immigrant and historically excluded communities.

RMM believes that the people who are most affected by injustice need to be prepared to be at the tables where the decisions that affect their lives are made. This is true for marginalized and disenfranchised adults, youth, men and women alike.

That is why our Popular Education model is so effective – we nurture leaders. They are directly involved in the decision-making, priority and strategy setting; we take our lead from them. Program participants request information/education about the systems they are being asked to navigate (education, medical, legal, civic, labor etc.,) which represent their biggest challenges.

RMM provides that education, helps them bring those issues to the wider community in their own voices, connects them with community groups who work collaboratively to remove barriers, and provides a network of statewide allies in faith, labor, and educational communities who support these workers with resources, time and talents.

RMM is changing people's lives not by what we think is better for them, but by offering opportunities to develop their confidence, networks and skills to create opportunities for themselves and their communities through education, leadership development, youth empowerment and worker cooperatives.
