Executive Summary

Life Pieces To Masterpieces (LPTM) develops character and leadership, unlocks potential, and prepares Black and Brown boys and young men to transform their lives and communities. We serve boys from early childhood into adulthood, partnering closely with their families and schools.

Boys join LPTM as early as age three and progress annually through our year-round comprehensive Afterschool, Summer, and Saturday programming, which is entirely free, including meals and safe door-to-door transportation. Our youth engage in experiential literacy and STEM learning; outdoor play and physical education; and daily practice with LPTM’s Human Development decision-making framework. They create collaborative art pieces which serve as a metaphor for sewing their “life pieces” into Masterpieces.

Mentorship is central to LPTM – young men in Saturday Academy prepare for college and career success while mentoring younger peers in the afterschool and summer programs. LPTM continues to support these young men as they enter college and the workforce. Alumni routinely return to LPTM to serve as teachers and mentors.

We share our philosophical framework with broad audiences through advocacy, coalition-building, and most notably Color Me Community, a series of workshops that bridge divides, foster a sense of belonging, and organize people around a shared mission. We have led workshops for school districts, conferences, nonprofits, and community leaders from more than 60 countries.

Since 1996, over 2,000 young men have grown up in LPTM. For the past decade, 100% of our Saturday Academy Apprentices have graduated high school. We proudly maintain the highest Charity Navigator (4-star) and Candid (Platinum) ratings.
