Executive Summary

INCLUDEnyc’s mission is to foster bright futures for young people with disabilities by increasing access to educational, employment, and independent living opportunities, while advocating with families for meaningful inclusion in society. Our work empowers caregivers and youth, particularly those from low income, BIPOC, and/or non-English-speaking communities. INCLUDEnyc’s unique programming uses a holistic approach that serves the whole individual through the trajectory of life from birth to age 26, creating networks of support and helping families understand their rights, navigate complex service systems, and secure crucial supports for their child. At the same time, we equip youth with the tools and competencies needed to achieve postsecondary goals, develop essential life skills, and set the stage for greater independence in adulthood. To ensure accessibility for everyone, all our programs are free and multilingual. Last year, we directly served over 14,300 individuals, and reached over 440,000 people via communications and outreach.

Founded 40 years ago by three mothers who needed to procure services for their children with disabilities, our work remains family-driven, and is performed by a staff that is representative of – and sensitive to – the needs of our population, since more than half our staff are the child, parent, or sibling of a person with disabilities or has a disability themselves.
