Executive Summary
Habilitat's long-term, residential treatment program eliminates barriers to successful recovery and community reintegration. People with access to resources and opportunities are significantly less likely to recidivate than those without. Through community-led living, residents anchor through a sense of belonging. They progressively grow, accept new or different community roles, and reinforce new norms. Members also help each other to build skills and work ethic through hands-on job training for eventual reentry. Our commitment to the wider community is cornerstone to strengthening the community at-large and us. We prioritize relationships and service through a variety of volunteer activities, i.e., forest restoration and preservation, meal service to elders in need, assisting with disaster relief, hosting community events and forums, and partnering with other non-profits to support others in need. Our partners including the judiciary, continually refer to us as the “the gold standard in addiction treatment and a key organization reducing incarceration with our toughest cases.” Of staff, 78% graduated from Habilitat. Having lived experience, they are most poised to raise and address concerns, advance the sharpest solutions and create a culture of unwavering support. Thousands have come to Habilitat and gone on to live successfully. Our focus remains on treating the whole person and helping people to lay foundations on which they can (re)build their lives. As a result, Habilitat’s success rates continue to be 3 times the national average with 63% of graduates reporting full time employment, safe housing, no new justice involvement and continuous sobriety, five years after graduation.
