Executive Summary
Enlace Comunitario is the only culturally specific service provider for Latine and immigrant victims of domestic violence in Central New Mexico's Latine and immigrant communities. Enlace was founded for and by immigrants—to bridge a service gap and support in-need, low-income immigrant victims through trauma-informed, evidence-based, and culturally specific services. Enlace believes domestic violence survivors are the most equipped advocates to lead the anti-violence movement, which is why our staff and board include former Enlace clients and/or individuals who have experienced domestic violence. Nearly all of our staff—and all direct service staff—are fully bilingual, and many are immigrants. Our Promotoras (community health educators) and Youth Leaders (teen peer educators) are former Enlace clients who volunteer to become anti-violence community advocates; these cohorts are crucial to advancing our prevention-focused outreach and education work. As a domestic violence service provider, Enlace is unique in that Enlace provides services through an intergenerational and intersectional model that address all aspects of a victim's domestic violence experience and aligns them with change-making resources; that means a client has access to our suite of services, including crisis intervention, case management, housing assistance, legal assistance, therapy (child/adult), parenting/life skills classes, financial capability training, and employment development. All services are client directed. Once a client completes their service plan, they can participate in our prevention department through our Promotora and Youth Leader programs, both of which empower former clients to continue their work as anti-violence advocates. Enlace's service model positions victims for long-term success in their new life chapter.
