Executive Summary
The dichotomy of climate change—a global threat on one hand and a growing sector of increasing opportunities on the other—offers a viable pathway for women of color to advance a triple bottom line. Our project will increase their leadership and influence, improve their personal finances, and contribute to solving a global challenge. The Institute for Sustainable Communities seeks to address inequity in the climate field and boost the impact of women of color who are advancing innovative solutions. The Institute's Black-led, women of color team will recruit women of color nationally, from various climate change sectors. Three cohorts will participate in an 18-month program designed to advance participants' leadership through a series of programs and a set of self-designed leadership advancement activities. Each cohort will engage separately and come together each year to form a national network that will catalyze a shift in the face of climate leadership.
