Executive Summary
While Cambodia is undergoing rapid economic and social change, care and education services for children 0-6 years old are largely inadequate or non-existent. Most children do not have the chance to develop their full potential. However, families, communities, and the government are concerned about their children’s well-being. With them, MAREC plans to scale their community daycare and preschool model, offering a high quality of education, health check-ups, and parental education. The curricula of the teachers will integrate innovative topics, such as social-emotional learning and learning through play, supported by online resources and tight coaching. A canteen program will also be piloted.
In several provinces, the professionals - teachers, health workers, and public education offices - will improve their abilities, families will develop their knowledge, and children from ages 0-6 years-old, of which at least 30% are vulnerable, will grow up in good care and educational conditions, acquiring the necessary foundations for their future life.
